Overview:
I have a handful of College music courses under my belt, as well as remembering and doing well in a handful of music courses from high school. I have an associates in arts backgrounds, and traversed the Guilford College music minor program in good standing. I have studied under a jazz guitarist, and was part of a high-ranking high school drumline during my high school days. I have studied privately in areas of Rock, Folk, and Blues especially. Finally, I have under my belt 8 Copyright albums of Original music, and another 2-3 on the way, involving myself all the while in local Rock bands who play at notable venues.
EXPERIENCE
I have played at noteable venues like the Downtown Events Center, Regency Park, and Berkeley Music Hall as well as The Pour House and even well-known coffee shops throughout my area. I combine classic rock with new age rock approaches in my guitar and drumset intruction. I am big into the blues and rock and folk styles especially, but can teach a few others thru the Intermediate levels.
I have most experience as an instrumentalist performing in rock bands in the greater Raleigh area. However, a lot of my audio production has been sound and developing for the past decade.
METHODS USED
Drums: Pad , Drumset, and occassional Hand-drumming sessions. Classical Staff instruction in drums, I use a different methodology here , (Guitar being a new-age music theory approach.) Guitar: Acoustic, Acoustic-Electric, Electric, with a pick or without a pick styles. I teach tablature and diagrams and charts. I can get you through novice on into intermediate play with classical staff, but if you want to go advanced, stick with the tabs and such for the while. * I have not advertised a long time on this, but i am able to teach bass thru Intermediate levels as well.
LESSON STYLE
We will and can do any or all of the following: Drums : pad rudiments , playing position training , speed and technique Drumset : rock folk and blues style drumming, some swing/jazz and funk and such. Handdrums: ocasionally i may bring over handdrums for a 15 minute session on how to play them! Guitar: scales, chords, bar chords, "riffing/riffs", songwriting, arpeggios, fret hand technique, reading tabs/charts * I teach electric and acoustic styles on guitar , no classical unless u wanna just be learning steel-string techniques on a classical guitar ! i teach fingerstyle per-say, but not like the Classical guitarists are supposed to be doing it ...
