I am 26 years old and have been playing as well as performing music for about 19 years. I specialize in guitar as well as piano. I've performed many times out in Las Vegas, NV, Madison, WI as well as the Chicago/Rockford area. My passion for peromance in the musical arts has now come to a point in my life to where I want to teach others to comprehend the wonders of the art. The joy music has brought me has carried me through quite a few ups and downs. To experience thats passion in someone else would be a great achievement for me.
EXPERIENCE
I'm farely new at teaching and the idea of it hasn't appealed to me till the beginning of 2017. There has been more moments than I can count where I had to teach others the art of music. I've worked for many different customer service jobs and have accumilated over 4 years of experience in that. I feel that I will be able to apply these skills to the teaching experience and perhaps grow as an idividual. I enjoy the process of helping others open their mind to new ideas and ways of thinking. Music will be an honor for me to teach to others.
METHODS USED
For all students I'll be going over various ways to memorize any piece. I'll go over intervals, imperfect pitches, scale structure, chord progression, and how to apply all of it. I will start off with identifying notes in a scale, what they mean and how to use them. From there I'll go over rhythm and understanding time signatures. I will teach the importance of identifying and analyzing various compositions that the student finds interest in. After the student is able to apply all of these practices, there will be a final exam that involves performing a chosen song, identifying the different components of the song, and performing an instrumental improv of that song.
LESSON STYLE
My teaching style involves a more personal level. For example, finding out what the student enjoys listening to, what their motivations as well as what their priorities are. The student will, for the most part, control the direction of their skill. I will show, by example, how amazingly useful music theory is as well as how to understand a piece of music just by listening to it. By understanding aural skills, the will be able to identify components of each song or sequence of notes just by hearing it.
