I'm a 27 year old passionate and motivated instructor who likes to further his education some day. I graduated from Prairie View A&M University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance. I love teaching kids
I currently have over 10 years experience in trombone, baritone and tuba. I have taught some of my peers and classmates how to overcome struggles in certain music. I have tutored many aspects of music such as music theory, applied lessons, as well as music performance. In the past, I have also tutored different styles of music such as as classical, romanticism, and baroque.
For younger students, I like to start off with the fundamentals/basics to set a good foundation to what we will be learning in the future. Lip slurs, long tones, embouchure & amp; tuning are all key assets for beginners. Now for my advanced players we will definitely start in the music bible (The Arban Book) and work from start to finish. This will definitely teach players about double/triple tonguing, octave leaps/jumps & my personal favorite dynamics.
For my teaching style I like to set goals that I know my students would have to work quite hard for, but not so hard they'll get disinterested. Also, another key teaching style that I incorporate is REPITITION REPITION & REPITION. I cannot stress that enough. It's like learning how to ride a bike; the first you will not get but if you keep at it you'll learn it
