Hello there, my name is Brittany. I have been teaching private voice for about 5 years and have been singing all my life. I started taking private lessons a little over 9 years ago and I have experience in performing on stage as a soloist, in a group, in front of thousands of people, and in a choral setting. I currently run the music theater program at a private school in Mesa, Arizona and this is my second production with them. I am a Senior at Ottawa University and will graduate in December of 2014 with my BA in Choral Education K-12th grade.
I have been teaching for 6 years on a private level. I just go hired on at a private school in Mesa, AZ as their music director. I have taught kids, adults, and anyone in between.
Our first lesson will be a "get to know you lesson." I will ask questions such as "What kind of music do you like?", "What are your musical goals?", and " Have you ever taken lessons?" I want to know everything there is to know about your history and likes and dislikes in music. For the following lessons, we will start off with music theory because as a musician it is VERY important for you to understand how to read, write, analyze, and count music. Once we are done with theory we will move on to warm-ups. Each student is different so each student will have their own set of warm-ups. My goal is to extend my students' range in a healthy way. After warm-ups we'll move to singing.
I find that music theory is very important in learning how to sing.
