Overview:

I am 31 years old, originally from the bay area. I attended Los Medanos College for Vocal performance and Musical Theory. I took vocal lessons from "In The light" Voice studio from 1992-2010, and in the 20+ years that I have been singing, I have performed at many fundraisers, festivals, Churches, weddings, clubs, and other venues. I have taught vocal lessons for over 5 years, and I am extremely well-versed with musical theater as well. I love all genres of music, and I want to make musical performance fun, and strive to give everyone I teach, the ability to love it as much as I do.

EXPERIENCE

I originally started teaching to help out my voice teacher with her overflow of vocal students. I have a lot of experience with teaching, and assisting teachers as well. I have given private lessons for children and adults, from experienced, to beginner. I am experienced in recitals, competitions, and also putting on musical theater productions.

METHODS USED

From beginner to advanced, my basic principle is to have fun. I am very patient with my students, and I strive for a trust between student and teacher. For beginner students, I want them to feel comfortable expressing themselves, and learning the simple tools needed to sing a song. As experience comes, I will hone those tools and help my students to strive for excellence in singing and performing. A typical lesson will start with scales to loosen the voice, and help with the vocal muscle memory. Students will pick a song to their liking, and learn to sing and perform this sing in a few lessons, depending upon experience.

LESSON STYLE

Nothing is more rewarding for me than seeing a student develop a passion for performing. I typically design a lesson around a student's experience, and allow a student to progress at their own pace. I am pretty relaxed, but firm when needed. My goal as a teacher is to acknowledge progress, and make students eager to learn more. I try to find out what inspires my students, so I can tailor my teaching to their needs. Above all, I'm fun, and willing to go the extra mile to help my students succeed.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
