I'm a instructor that loves seeing students blossom, and achieve their personal goals in music. As an instructor my students inherit the same zeal and passion for music that I have. Also, I encourage my students to perform, have fun, and to be confident in their playing ability. My goal for each student is not only to learn their instrument well, but to be in tune with their instrument. I've attended Anne Arundel Community College for Music. Also, I have been performing in local bands and churches in the DMV for over 10 years. With this experience I continue pass down my musical wisdom so that my students can be the best.
EXPERIENCE
I've been teaching as a private music instructor for a 4 years. I started teaching youth at my local church how to play bass, guitar, and percussion. From that point forward I developed a love for teaching music. Furthermore, I began to grow my private lessons, while working at School of Rock as a bass, guitar, and keyboard instructor. Throughout my experience of teaching, I ensure that my students are stage/performance ready musicians. This means that I teach my students not only how to play well, but how to be lperformers. From how to operate their equipment to engaging the crowd while your rocking out on stage. As an instructor I have taught all ages, genders, and skill levels how to rock out on stage or even for personal enrichment.
METHODS USED
For my students I create customize lesson plans each month. These lesson plans are tailored to the students goals and skill level. In the lessons I began with finger exercises and practicing scales. After this warm up I teach with Hal Leonard Method Book's for both Bass and Guitar students. Towards the end of each lesson I work with the students on a song/recital piece of their choice. I always ensure that all of my students understand the theory/concepts behind the exercises and songs they are practicing.
LESSON STYLE
I think that lessons always need to be engaging and fun. This is accomplished by creating customize lesson plans for each student to ensure that he/she learns at there own pace. I want students to feel good about what they have learned, as well as, feel accomplished after each lesson. I also make sure to create a relaxed learning environment that way students feels free to ask questions if they have concerns on a particular musical concept. I want my students to understand that music is an enjoyable and rewarding process.
