I am a young Franco-American woman who has been devoted to music ever since I was three. I have been sharing my knowledge and passion for the past five years now, in private and group lessons. I am a performing artist who sings Jazz, French music, and indie rock music that I have composed myself. I have had the great experience of touring the US with my previous band, and participated to festivals such as South By South West, CMJ, Northside Fest etc. We have performed in venues in NYC such as Mercury Lounge, the Bowery Ballroom, and The Knitting Factory.
I first started teaching in 2008 in Paris, for groups of 10 students. I have had 3-5yo classes, 6-8 and 9 to 12. It was a very enriching experience to teach for such a young age, and very challenging to have so many students in the same class room! I have since then moved to New York City, and have been teaching one on one lessons for piano, guitar and voice. I adapt to the student's needs and interests. My first concern when I meet a student is to raise their interest and curiosity about music. I find that when the student is fascinated about the instrument he is learning, his will to progress and learn more makes our work together much more efficient and improvement much faster. The desire to learn must come from the student, no matter the age. Learning music requires a lot of hard work, perseverance and self-discipline. I am here to guide and encourage. I like to organize recitals for my students so they can see their achievements and improvements over time.
Like I said, every lesson is specific to the student. I don't use a "method" on all my students. I can teach classical music and technicality, to jazz songs and improvisation, to songwriting and pop/folk oriented style of playing. I try to give accurate and appropriate material to students depending on their needs and interests.
Although I am strict and demanding, I am a very positive and encouraging teacher. I wan to be inspiring, but also help the student to become self disciplined. I think self discipline is one of the most important thing when it comes to career and achievements. I also try to higher their expectations and push them to be more ambitious and more confident about their capability and skills.
