I am a music lover who would like to teach piano to help others to relieve stress, to develop a career in music or to learn something new. I have played for over ten years. I am a singer, songwriter, choir director, pianist and a music teacher. I enjoy teaching music to students, who are new to music education. Currently, I am working on getting my Associate degree in music. Also, I am in the Music Certificate Program at Peabody in Baltimore, Maryland.
I simply enjoy playing and teaching piano because it brings me joy.
I have been playing the piano for over 10 years. I decided to receive a formal education so I could teach others by using different techniques. I started teaching two years ago. I have created a home studio for my students to come and feel comfort in learning piano. My studio consist of keyboards and a upright piano. I have taught children who are artistic. I enjoy teaching people who are willing to learn and practice the materials that I have presented. I have sung in choirs for over ten years. Currently, I am a choir director for different choirs in Baltimore, Maryland.
Currently, the methods I use is based on the students ability to comprehend. I have created a series of teaching from various sources such as Alfred, Bastien, etc. I use a particular method based on the need of the student. I will teach the foundation of music such as scales, chords, sight reading and classical pieces. As the student progress, the student will learn different style of music such as gospel, jazz and pop. I want to teach classical because it's a foundation of piano playing and have fun with it by learning small classical pieces.
My teach style varies based on the need of the student. I have students that are serious so I would create a syllabus that consist of taking exams or perform in recitals. My other students who just want to have fun with piano, I teach them little pop songs. My method is based on what the student desire. I want my students to enjoy playing the piano. I want them to learn how to play so they can express themselves. By playing the piano, one can use positive or negative energy to reduce excessive pressure.
