I am a fun and patient teacher who loves working with children! I believe music can be enjoyed by every walk of life and I want to help you with your musical goals. Whether you are just trying out the piano, want to improve your playing, or are college-bound in a music degree, I can certainly help you get there!
I started teaching my first student in 2008 when I was studying at the University of Washington. Since then my studio has really taken off and I find that I love teaching more and more! I have coached advanced adult students and taught many children (some starting as early as 5 years old). I've put on two successful recitals so far and there are more fun and exciting plans in the future.
I believe in individual piano lessons for my students. Traditionally I have taught using Faber's Piano Adventures and the Alfred Series. I also have used the Bastian series. However, I often adapt my lessons to match the needs of my students. I am currently designing my own curriculum to better meet the needs of my piano studio.
I'm cranky, strict, and impatient. Just Kidding! Contrary to many stereotypical views of old-style piano teachers, I try to stay upbeat, fresh, and FUN! I feel successful if my students are progressing, if they have fun, and I can motivate them.
