I'm currently attending school and majoring in both Piano Pedagogy and French Education. I love to play the piano and sharing my talents with other people. I have had many opportunities to perform in front of people. I love working with students and helping them to improve their musical abilities. My greatest achievements come from seeing the joy that piano can bring into students' lives. My goal every lesson is to get a smile from my students' faces. I am very passionate and look forward to teaching my students each week.
I have been playing the piano for over 20 years. I grew up in a musical home and have enjoyed improving my performance skills over the years! I have taken piano lessons from several major piano professors from top universities. I have a lot of experience working with beginners and intermediate pianists. I love helping new students learn how playing the piano can improve their lives. I have had many opportunities to accompany various instruments, including choirs. I have also participated in several competitions that have improved my abilities to perform.
For young beginners I start them in the Alfred Basics Books. I work to help students learn their notes quickly. I think that it is extremely important that students learn to read the notes from the staff and correlate staff reading with the notes on the piano. I give each of my students an exercise to begin their practicing each day. This exercise includes scales, arpeggios, cadences, transposing and sight reading. I believe that it is important to improve the most important skills of playing the piano as fast as I can so that students can enjoy playing the piano.
I want my students to enjoy playing the piano. There can be many times when piano teachers assign a student a piece without getting the input of the student. I feel that it is important to follow the method books, but also to allow the students to play a piece of their choosing that will encourage them to continue to play the piano. During the first few lessons with a student, I will get to know what musical styles they like and find music that they will enjoy playing on top of the music that I assign to them.
