My name is Carlos B. I am a passionate drummer who loves music and would like to share that love of music to students. In 2018, I graduated from Mount Vernon High School in Alexandria, Virginia. From then on, I have been playing drums at my local church for 6 years. But have been paying drums in general for a church for over 10 years. I have had the opportunity to play drums at one of our churches we opened in Little River, South Carolina right near the very famous Myrtle Beach where I get to go out of state.
My teaching experience has been very minimal. Whenever I have someone who wants to learn I started them off just playing whatever as I’ve done for some kids at my church. And a young teen in Our church in South Carolina. I am mostly a gospel/church drummer that focuses on gospel/ worship songs that uses our gift of playing an instrument for worship to God. To whom all of our inspiration comes from. I believe in every student being able to express themselves freely through the use of an instrument which would be the drums.
For beginning students: young teens , children, adults, I start them off with them just playing something whether it be a beat from a song they’ve listened to and want to play. From there, I begin to introduce them to the fundamentals of time and hearing that goes into playing any kind of instrument and there can grasp those 2 keys to progress in paying drums. And for those students. I try to find out what they’re interested in. And guide them accordingly and keep the lessons engaging and fun to get them to reach their full ability.
Nothing is more important to me than seeing my students develop their passion for drums and music in general.I think it’s essentially to go at his/hers own pace. And encounrage each to reach their goal for that lesson. Acknowledging when the student is progressing, attentive and eager to keep on learning. I can successfully accommodate to each of the students wants and needs and vice versa their desire to learn the most of what I can teach them and the rest is learned along the way by practice, listening to music.
