I am a passionate and motivated pianist who would love to share my love and knowledge of music with others! In 2020, I graduated from St. Petersburg College with an Associate in Arts degree with a focus on music. I have worked at several churches, and am currently a music director, choir director, and accompanist at Faith United Church of Christ in Bradenton, FL. I also have a strong passion for theater, and have done many shows as accompanist and music director at a community theater in Spring Hill, FL. I am working on continuing my music career by earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in music. I am excited to start working with students!
I took private piano lessons for over 10 years ever since I was a kid, and I have learned a lot from my teacher, not only about piano techniques and methods, but also of how to interact with and teach different people of different ages. As I am continuing to further my music career and establish myself, I am excited to start teaching lessons for the first time. I was classically trained, but also incorporated a lot of different musical styles such as pop, jazz, blues, musical theater, American standards, and church music.
I will first find out what genre or style the student is interested in, and then gear further instruction towards that while still incorporating the basic fundamentals of music theory and some classical music. For beginner children, I will use the Alfred Basic Piano Library Course books starting at level 1A, which include lesson, theory, technic, and notespeller. We can then work up to higher levels of the workbooks. I will pick appropriate repertoire for their level, and include songs they might want to learn too.
Each person has a different learning style, and it is important to understand what that is and how to teach each student in the most effective way possible that keeps them interested and attentive. Each students' needs will be considered and we can work together to figure out what works best for them. Each student will progress at their own pace; we will go as slow or fast as they need in order for them to fully learn and master concepts and pieces. It's important to me to give my students the best instruction they can have that is custom to their wants and needs!
