I'm a passionate instructor who loves sharing my knowledge with others. I recently obtained my Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the California State University of Los Angeles. I have been training professionally as a guitarist for seven years. I have mostly performed classical guitar, but I have also been able to perform other genres while applying my classical guitar knowledge. I recently performed with my college's guitar ensemble in Armenia, and I have also had solo performances during my time in college.
I have been teaching guitar lessons for about three years both online and in person. I have taught people who were 7 years old to about 50 years old. I love discovering what works for each person and what each individual wants to accomplish by receiving lessons. I also like to expand their goals to new possibilities. I like to engage students with music they already know while also presenting music to them that can help improve their skills, and they might also find enjoyable. I love seeing how students gain confidence as they discover they get to do things that they did not think they could do before!
I like my students to build skills that musicians possess and in order to do this I incorporate a lot my own creativity into my teaching. I base most of my teaching on Hal Leonard's Guitar Method, and I combine this with technical exercises I create according to the need of each student. My lessons are focused on gaining an understanding on how to be functional in guitar playing while also enjoying it. I like students to look forward to playing music they like, so no matter their level I customize music they enjoy so that they can play it no matter their ability level.
Anyone can learn when they know that they're in a supportive learning environment! My students are encouraged to make mistakes, and we find out together what can help in fixing those mistakes. I acknowledge my students' progress in each lesson so that they gain the confidence to keep moving forward. In each lesson, I am focused on meeting students where they are at, and my teaching is very adaptive. I love to engage students in their learning quest asking questions that prompt their learning and understanding of music.
