MA, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Music Performance BA, Elizabethtown College, Music
I am a pianist and singer residing in State College, Pennsylvania with eight years of music teaching experience. I graduated from Elizabethtown College in 2013 with degrees in voice and piano performance, along with an additional degree in professional writing. I also obtained a Master's degree in music performance from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania in December 2017 and will be joining the Elizabethtown College Music Camp as a piano faculty member in July 2018. I look forward to expanding my teaching abilities through Musika!
I believe that music is an essential component for enjoyment and learning throughout our lives. Music not only enriches our creativity, but it also gives us the ability to express ourselves by creating something truly unique. I began teaching privately through the Elizabethtown College preparatory division in 2010, and I joined the State College Music Academy faculty as a voice and piano instructor in 2013. I have experience teaching students of all ages and skill levels. Although classically trained, I also enjoy teaching a wide variety of genres and styles.
Aside from the structure and discipline expected from formal music lessons, I ultimately strive to create a learning environment that is both stimulating and encouraging for my students. I enjoy structuring my teaching methods to accommodate individual learning styles, and I strongly believe in the importance of a well-rounded musical foundation. My desire is to provide the tools and guidance necessary for musical growth, and to instill a love and appreciation of music that will last a lifetime.
It is no secret that music instruction carries enormous benefits. Learning an instrument provides a healthy outlet for stress, increases confidence, and encourages a higher level of appreciation for all genres of music. In particular, the piano attracts many budding musicians due to its versatility, beautiful repertoire, and ability to communicate a wide range of emotions. Everyone has the capacity to play and enjoy music, and it is my role as an instructor to bring out the best musician in each of my students.
