I am a passionate and motivated teacher, who loves working with students of all ages. I am primarily a saxophone player, but love learning new instruments. In 2020, I graduated from UMass Lowell with a Bachelor’s in Music Studies. In 2022, I graduated with a Master’s in Music Education. I enjoy teaching and performing with the New England Youth Wind Ensembles in Lowell, MA. In these ensembles, I provide individual and group lessons to middle and high school students. I rehearse and perform alongside students in an end-of-the-year concert.
EXPERIENCE
I have been providing private and group lessons through the New England Youth Wind Ensembles for over three years. I have experience with online, as well as in-person lessons. I encourage regular practice to all students, as it is important to develop daily and weekly routines. I will assist students with any materials they bring to a lesson, whether it’s repertoire from school or audition materials. I will introduce a variety of materials to ensure students are developing an appreciation for music of all cultures and styles. I am always looking to bring on new students of all ages!
METHODS USED
For younger students, I typically assist and follow the method books students are working on. For example, they may use Standards of Excellence or Hal Leonard’s Essential Elements. These lesson books are crucial to teaching the fundamentals as a student is beginning to learn an instrument. I will break away from the books and introduce appropriate solo repertoire. I will also be mindful to the interests of the students to keep them engaged. For older students, I try to guide my instruction based on the students’ interests.
LESSON STYLE
Students will instill a passion for music, or further this passion! It is important to note that students will progress at their own pace. There is no deadline for when students reach a goal. It is important to see how a student reached their individual goals as opposed to how long it took to reach them. Quality is greater than quantity. I will aid students in setting realistic goals, which will inspire students to progress in their learning. I will always focus my instruction on the individual needs of students.
