Bachelor Degree: Puerto Rico Music Conservatory
2010 CMPR chamber music competition winner
2011 Brass member (Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra Casals Festival brass concert)
I'm a passionate instructor who loves to share my love of music and discover all the possibilities that a student can have with the instrument. I graduated from the Puerto Rico Music Conservatory with a bachelor in trombone performance. Working as a trombonist with the Navy band Southeast, I'm constantly performing in different ceremonies and teaching masterclasses around the Southeast area of the US, including Puerto Rico. As a soloist and freelance musician I'm very active in the Jacksonville scene, not only playing classical music, but also latin music and popular music; with Symphony Orchestras and other small and large ensembles.
Since High School (2005) I began to teach music in my own studio in Puerto Rico, working with kids and adults. My main goal is to create a collaborative work plan. I will never impose a single method in all the students, because we all have different aspirations and different priorities. I will help you as a student to accomplish any goals you can have and I will do whatever it takes to keep you motivated. Practice is key and using the right tools with the right mindset will help you to get to your goal faster. I will help you to discover what is the right tool for you.
For beginning students I combine solfege, breathing exercises and methods that fits the student's goals. Once the students not only progress, but also tailor the path that want to follow, I will adjust every single aspect to help you get to your goals in a smart way. The most important thing is to always find ways to have fun and always avoid frustration and avoid to create bad habits that could be developed with careless instruction. Also I encourage students to listen to music by creating songs list in accordance of the interests you may have.
Everything is set in accordance with the student's needs, aspirations and interests. I will help to create realistic goals and schedules, but at the end the student is the boss. Nothing is imposed, nothing is reached if the student did not ask for it. That way I make sure that progress is organic and the student will have a better understanding of why things are done in certain ways when they keep getting better. Communication would be always there. That's the only thing that can keep students motivated and with desire to get better.
