I'm a current music industry professional with over 25 years of experience in playing and teaching guitar. I knew as early as age 10 that I wanted to pursue a career in the music industry. This desire led me to study the music industry and learn to play guitar at a very young age. I am only looking to take on a handful of students at this time since I also work full-time as a talent scout for various artist development and music production companies. I also perform as a singer/songwriter in a part-time capacity.
My teaching experience dates back to the early 1990's. Since that time I have consistently taught private lessons while also working in the music industry as a professional guitarist, singer/songwriter, and consultant. When teaching I employ what I describe as a practical, real-world methodology. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument.
I strictly teach a practical and real world approach that quite frankly is not in any "textbooks" out there. I developed this approach through 25 years of playing professionally in a variety of genres (CCM/Worship, Pop, Country/Folk/Americana, etc.) and helping dozens of artists in those various genres as a music industry consultant. My method of guitar instruction is best suited for an individual who is interested in pursuing a career as a singer/songwriter regardless of the specific genre. My method focuses on describing the variety of ways a chord or riff can be played and then explaining why one way is more advantageous over another, etc.
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a student's desire to progress, and makes him or her eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to his or her wants and needs using a practical and real world approach.

Chad is a perfect teacher for beginners and intermediate learners. I feel like I’m constantly learning new things at a great pace.
