I've been playing drums for 48 years. I'm still enjoying the playing of drums, and searching for new knowledge on how to play better. I've toured and performed with great musicians. I've had the great opportunity to be a drum set clinician for Sabian Cymbals, Maxwell Drums, Aquarian Drumheads, Vic Firth Drumsticks, and Trick Dum Pedals. Teaching a large group of drummers is great fun but I really enjoy the one on one interaction between student and teacher. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with new drummers who are looking to become as great as possible. We'll be able to do that.
Teaching is a journey for me and the student. I realy enjoy seeing the progress of each student becoming who they have imagined they could be. I've been teaching a long long time. My students know that we will have fun and meet the challenges that get them to each new level of playing and understanding drums, music and everything connected to it. I've toured with National acts as well as my own bands. I have a keen understanding of live and studio performance. My students have complete knowledge about drums, music, performing, recording, buying equipment, and dealing with all aspects of music.
I start with training your hands to play as effortlessly as possible. We do that by working on exercises I've developed along with Snare drum books. I look to customize lessons that fit each student. Together we pick books, and music that fits their needs. As we go along I add the necessary techniques that will move the student to higher levels of playing. I approach this as I'm the coach and I help make it as easy and fun as possible. I tell my students you'll always leave each lesson better than when you came in.
The exciting part of teaching is when the students eyes are opened to the possibilities that are in front of them. I'm so lucky that I get to share that with them. Understanding is the key to momentum so it is up to me that each student sees what I see. Then the fun really begins. Teaching has been an exceptional gift for me to share. Every student of mine will achieve and succeed because they see how much fun it is to play.
