I am a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. I am been studying music since the age of five and have had the privilege to travel throughout the country as a professional musician. In 2014, I graduated from Florida Memorial University with a Bachelor of Music Education. Initially I attended Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University "FAMU" for my freshman and sophomore years of college where I became a member of Kappa Kappa Psi and had the privilege to perform with the marching 100.
My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time and have been teaching since. Today I am a music teacher at David Posnack Jewish Day School and the drum instructor at Piper High School. Since becoming the drum instructor at Piper High School we have received superior ratings four years in a row. I have also had the privilege to travel throughout the USA as a performing musician appearing on shows such as the 700 Club, BET Gospel, Hezekiah Walker and much more.
I believe each of us learn differently; for some students I find that they are very hands on and prefer that I show them how to do something and then allow them to perfect it others I find that they need a little more guidance and need me to go at a slower pace but regardless of the student's learning language I take my time to understand where they are and outline a plan to help them exceed to the next level. Each student that study with me can expect to not only learn how to plan an instrument but also how to read and write music.
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage my students by setting realistic goals and proving homework after each lesson to perfect for the next lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a student desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the students, I can successfully tailor my instruction to his or her learning style.
