Overview:
I am a very motivated hardworking instructor who enjoys sharing my gift of music with my students! My passion for music goes far beyond just wanting to perform for others, I also love teaching others and helping them to be able to share their gift as well. In 2016 I graduated from Taylor University with a degree in Music Marketing. This degree entails music education, vocal performance and basic music theory. I have the joy of performing all over the world, including Greece, China, and Hong Kong!
EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience dates back to college. I began teaching my friends (piano and ukulele), and helping them improve on their instruments! After I graduated college I received a job teaching private and group lesson, in Maryland. I taught piano, guitar, and violin classes and private in-home lessons! I enjoyed teaching my students not only the basics of an instrument, but also fun songs that they enjoyed playing! I enjoyed teaching knowledge of music and instruments, but I also enjoyed seeing my students improve as the days went by!
METHODS USED
For my beginning students on piano, I like to start out with knowing finger numbers, practicing scales and introducing simple songs to help get the feel of how to play the piano. I then move on to, not only giving the student an option to tell me what songs they would like to learn, but also to songs that increase the note range! For guitar ukulele, I like to start out by introducing hand position and how to properly hold the guitar. From there I teach finger numbers, frets and how to properly play notes. I then like to give my student the option of picking a song of their choice, and work with them on the different notes. For vocal lessons, I like to start out doing warm-ups and finding the students vocal range. Once I have established that, I like to work on different songs to find the students best style!
LESSON STYLE
I have a very free teaching style. I am very organized and structured when it comes to teaching and my lessons, however I want my students to have fun, and feel that they can come to me with any request's that they have for their lessons. One thing I enjoyed about receiving lessons when I was younger, was how my teachers would teach me the basics and let me go from there and tell them what songs or techniques I wanted to learn next! I hope for my students to learn, and reach their goals, so that they can become successful!
