I am a passionate and dedicated instructor who loves working with students and sharing our love of music. I graduated from the Mannes School of Music with a Masters degree in Flute Performance. I have performed as a soloist, chamber musician, as well as an orchestral flutist during the 14 years of my life as a musician. I've had the opportunity to perform at Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall, as well as appearing on the Wind Masterclass Series featuring Demarre McGill. I've won several awards including the most recent first prize at the New York Flute Club in March 2019.
I began teaching flute lessons 7 years ago, and have been teaching students at local schools and in my home. I teach both individual one-on-one lessons as well as group lessons. I am committed, determined, and passionate teacher hoping to help students raise their standards. Establishing good work ethic, practice habits, and confidence are some of the key points I like to emphasize for students as I believe are strong qualities to have not only in music but in their daily lives as well. I'm always looking to bring new students of all varying levels and ages.
For beginners students, I start with Trevor Wye's Beginners Book for Flute, as well as Rubank's selected duets (Volume 1), and Marcel Moyse The Debutante Flutist. Once we have covered the basic foundations of the flute and have formed a core sound, I then introduce solo repertoire that is appropriate for the students. For all of my students, I always like to ask what they are interested in playing, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level.
While it is a learning environment, I hope for my students to enjoy and love music that they're playing. I believe that you must enjoy the process in order to make or see progress. Therefore, it is extremely important that we set realistic goals for each of their own. Accomplishments help the students and makes them eager to learn more. I like to tailor my teaching to my students' wants and needs and bring in pieces that they're interested in. I hopes to become an inspiring musician and teacher, providing her future students with an influential and enriching musical experience.
