Students have pursued music education
I'm a lifelong musician and grew up playing piano with my grandparents, who are both concert pianists and taught me how to play. I have my A.A. in music from Mt. San Jacinto C.C. and have studied under a number of great professional artists. I have been in a ZZ Top and Led Zeppelin tribute band, as well as a 00's and 10's rock cover band. I've participated in a number of students bands and accompanied violinists and singers during recitals and events. My current passion is the beautiful and unique style of flamenco guitar.
I have been teaching since 2008 and have felt very blessed to see students develop a love for their instrument and music. I began as a junior instructor with a group of teachers who taught different instruments, where students had the opportunity to play in a band setting. A true rock and roll beginning, I absolutely loved playing in student bands, and teacher showcase bands such as the ZZ Top and Led Zeppelin tribute bands. My primary goal is to have my students feeling accomplished and proud of their achievements. At the end of the day, we are here to make music and have fun!
My lesson structure is very flexible and has plenty of room for input from the student. My job as your teacher will be to give you technique building excercises and songs that will sharpen the fundamentals of playing your instrument. There are 3 parts to a lesson that I always like to touch on. 1) technique and warmups, 2) assigned material designed to be the stepping stones to your personal goals. 3) something that the student has picked out or has special interest in. Because I play a variety of instruments and styles, I can help students explore the musical world to discover what it is they truly love to play. After our lesson I will take an extra 10-15 minutes to record a tutorial and play along video that recaps what we cover.
My favorite thing about teaching is seeing that spark of understanding as students learn new things and grow a love for making music. My lesson style is very flexible and adaptable, and I like to have my student's input on what they would like to play. Lessons progress at your own pace and should be challenging in a very fun way. Everyone is different when it comes to musical taste and goals, and it's very fun to meet new people and find what inspires them. Whether you have a casual interest in playing some songs at a campfire with your friends, or would like to pursue a career in music, I'm going to have a great time helping you achieve your goals!
