Overview:
Hello! I am a guitar player and composer who is very passionate about both the art of playing guitar and writing music .  I like to have a balanced blend of sound (pun intended) technical guitar study with the fun of playing tunes and jamming. I bring to the table an in-depth journey to the realms of music theory while also staying loose and not get too bogged down with academic material. While Jazz is my main academic genre, I still love Rock (modern and classic), Metal, Blues, Funk and any modern day pop artists (as long as it has guitar in it!).
EXPERIENCE
From ~1998 to 2009 I studied under Jason Beaudreau starting at Jackson Music on Grand Island, NY and ending at the Guitar Woodshed in Niagara Falls, NY.  In 2006 I began my academic life at Niagara County Community College in Sanborn, NY. During that time I had "worked my way up", so to speak, to teaching at the Guitar Woodshed under Jason until I moved to New Paltz, NY in the fall of 2009. While earning my two Bachelors Degrees at New Paltz, several of the students and I form a Jazz Fusion quartet and played at various venues are the Hudson Valley Area. I was also recruited by the SUNY New Paltz Administration Team to perform at various school functions (award ceremonies, graduation ceremonies, executive galas, etc.). I was also recruited by the SUNY New Paltz Arts Department to perform in a student production of the musical "Tommy" as 1st guitarist. This led to gigs playing "Footloose" and "Grease" and Fallsburg High School in the upper Hudson Valley. From 2011-2012, I interned at the National Guitar Workshop in New Milford, CT where I study pedagogy (teaching styles) and got to attend a master class with shred-guitar heavy weight Paul Gilbert. After New Paltz, I moved to NYC and earned my Masters Degree at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College and taking advantage of the cultural offerings of the big city before moving back to Buffalo, NY in 2013. Since then, I have had the opportunity to teach guitar at the Lockport Music Center as well as private guitar lessons.
METHODS USED

I like to have a nice blend between two general areas of study with my students.  I ideally like to spend half of the lesson time focusing on the more academic side of things and the other half on just playing tunes.  Academic material would include things like sight-reading and basic music theory to truly educate my student about music while playing tunes (of the student's choosing) is a way to make it more of a fun environment.  I feel that having this balance will alow me to train my students with a proper education while still being relaxed and having fun.

LESSON STYLE
My teaching style is focused on getting a well-rounded education of music and guitar playing while still maintaining a fun and relaxing atmosphere.
