Overview:
Music is one of the things I am very passionate in. Sharing my knowledge on music and on my instruments is one of my primary goals as I believe music is a universal language and can be healing and inspiring. I have been playing in the California State University of Fresno's Symphony Orchestra as a 1st Violin since 2014. I am currently pursing my Masters in Violin Performance and Education. Getting to perform in many places and work with other musicians have been great experiences in my life as a musician. I've also had the opportunity to play in Broadway performances like The Phantom of the Opera, Damn Yankees, Shrek, and some others. I've even started my own YouTube channel to record my progress over the years of me learning and playing the Violin. I now have over 1000 Subscribers and am proud of my accomplishments to be able to share my music with the world and to be able to collaborate with many musicians around the world. I have also performed in retirement homes, weddings, and church gatherings as the lead 1st Violinist. It is my pleasure to help spread my passion for music with my students and many others.
EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience goes way back to when I was in High School. I was assisting the Orchestra as a Principal Violinist. My duties were to hold sectionals and to correct articulation of my fellow classmates. Shortly after graduating from my high school, I was accepted into California State University as a Music Major on Violin. I ended up getting a part time teaching job at my previous high school to help the music students to read sheet music, count, focus on articulation, and dynamics. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule proves to benefit my younger and older students alike. Being consistent with practicing helps my students to progress and gain a passion for the instrument they are playing. As I started to achieve my music teaching goals I also discovered that a combination of classical music and modern music can go a long way in helping students to enjoy their instrument and motivates them to practice and achieve excellence. If a student isn't having fun learning, then I am not doing my job! My students are encouraged to participate in competitions and recitals, as well as working on their own material to have accomplishments to be proud of and stay motivated to learn more. I am always looking to bring on some more students that I can share my passion of music with and help them to achieve their musical goals.
METHODS USED
For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Suzuki Violin School Book 1. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals on starting on the Violin and learning terms and positions and correct stances, bowings, finger placements, etc... I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for students to grasp everything there is to know on the Violin like scales and names of violin positions and dynamics. For older students and adults, I try to discover what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. I mostly go based off the Suzuki Violin Method books and will guide my students in correct engagement to playing notes, focusing on dynamics, bowings, and finger note placements along with positions of the hand on the violin. I usually go based off the skill level of my student and accommodate that to see where I need to start in my teachings.
LESSON STYLE
There is nothing more rewarding than to see my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, It is important that each and every one of my students progresses at his or her own pace to really get everything down. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging those students accomplishments helps to fuel their motivation in learning their instrument and to progress further, and to have that burning desire to learn more. By discovering what inspires my students, I can successfully tailor my instruction based on their specific needs. I also make sure to watch my students progress to make sure they are picking up on things they are learning and putting them to use in their technique.
