Studied Euphonium with Mark Moore in his Tuba/Euphonium studio of select students
2013 - Became a continuing Member of Phi Mu Alpha men's music fraternity
Hello. I am a graduate of University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign holding my Bachelors in Music Education and looking for opportunities to teach lessons to students. I specialized on the Euphonium in college and have extensive knowledge of the low brass family, but can teach all brasses. I of course love to sing, play, and even dance because music in all forms is a beautiful art. Some hobbies I enjoy are video games and Ultimate Frisbee for a balance of the relaxing times and the athletic times.
Throughout my life I have been an active member of bands, choirs, and drama. In high school I was a part of every ensemble available including the Lockport Marching Porters, jazz bands, pep bands, and the top group the Wind Symphony for three years. Simultaneously all four years I participated in every choir I could, as well as the spring musicals, often with lead roles. In college I was part of the Wind Symphony, Wind Orchestra, Symphonic Bands, the Marching Illini: Baritone Squad-Leader, British Brass Band, Tuba and Euphonium Ensemble/quartets, and the Varsity Men’s Glee Club chorus. I also joined the national Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia men’s music fraternity which held many fund raisers and did community service in the area with the purpose of “Promoting music in America.”
My methods start with building individual plans for each student. Whether this is from scratch or from a method book I try to see what each student is successful in and struggling with to guide my teaching. While I attempt to be fun, understanding, and motivating this doesn't mean I am lackadaisical with my lessons. I expect the best my students can put forth while they should expect the same from me.
I am always conscious of myself to aim to be fun, understanding, and motivating. As long as my student is motivated to learn I could not care less if they were the worst player on the planet; I will endure thick and thin to guide them to success. The motivation to become better and to strive for excellence is what I look for in my students. I love music and while I don't expect all my students to pursue music as a career, I want my students coming away from my lessons purely enjoying music.
