I am a piano instructor who fully inspires students to work diligently on their repertoire. In 2018, I graduated with Distinction from London College of Music with a Master's degree in Music Performance. Also In 2016, I graduated from Kutztown University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano Performance. I had the opportunity to perform internationally in Greece and the UK, as well as sing with numerous choirs in Carnegie Hall, NYC. I have also given numerous solo recitals with unusual programs such as performing via storytelling, improvisation to film, solo piano improvisation, and collaborative piano improvisation.
My classical piano teaching experience began during my undergraduate college years with coaching chamber rehearsals on my written works. I have also taught all ages privately starting in 2016 at Menchey Music and have been consistent for 3 years. I motivate my students by showing them the challenges ahead and the rewards and accomplishments they bring with it. I teach with an open mind and I get the students involved with diverse music genres and time periods so they can get the most out of their playing. I also encourage students to use their given knowledge to create their own original works. This way they can apply what they learn and get a better understanding.
For beginners who are children, I usually start with the Alfred Series. This series will determine the capabilities of the student early on. I pay attention to the student's progress and once I feel they can move on to solo repertoire appropriate for recitals, I will move them down that path. For adults, I use the adult books from the Alfred Series, but I also use the UK piano grade system. I start by preparing them for grade 1 studies all the way through grade 8. Alongside this, I am open to any additional pieces they have an interest in attempting.
I pay special attention to the students' reactions and guide them from there because passion for the instrument is the top priority, and is the fuel to keep a musician going whether it is for a career or a hobby. I start by giving the student trivial assignments, but will quickly ramp it up to find their limits. If I find the student's limit, I will keep it just below that so the student can accomplish the given tasks, yet they can be outside their comfort zone. I cater the teaching to the students' needs and the pace is determined by them.
