Overview:
I am a trumpet player, composer and educator. I grew up in Florence, Italy and moved to Boston, MA in 2012 where I attended Berklee College of Music for my undergraduate and graduate studies. I believe that music is a great tool for communicating to each other even past language and cultural barrier. My goal as teacher is to enable each students personal talent and guide them through knowing an instrument so that they can access that communication and the endless possibilities that come with it. Each one of us is different and as a teacher I will create lessons and musical experiences customized for each student is that they can have the best time possible while they learn.
EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience is really varied. I teach kids that are beginners, advanced jazz masterclasses and evrything in between. I personally love this variety because it gives the possibility to experiment different methods and being open to students feedback so I can build the best lessons for them. My experience give the possibility to change my style and also I can draw for a large amount of musical materials to practice with each student. I also believe that having fun is one of the basic elements of learning. So the lessons will be fun but efficient!!
METHODS USED
I vary my approach and I can go between different methods so that I can create a specific one for the student. I have studied and thought more classical methods like Arban, Clarke and Claude Gordon just to name a few. But also I believe in really using creativity to teach and learn. So I developed methods that include all kinds of different and new exercises for every level of the student. We can draw inspiration from the students different passions or knowledge to make the music feel more close to us and something that we can understand fully without being too “brainy”!!
LESSON STYLE
I believe that my style is really flexible. I think that everybody has a different way to learn so my style will vary based on the student. I also believe that the role of the teacher should the one of facilitating the student process but ultimately is the student who should dictate the style and the pace of the lesson. I believe also that listening is a really important part of music learning so I have my student listening to a lot of different music and also I play with them all the time so that they can hear and feel what is it to play together.
