BS, York College of Pennsylvania, Music Education
Primary focus: Alto Saxophone
Overview:
Currently I am an Elementary General/Vocal Music Teacher with Baltimore County Public Schools.
I am a 2012 York College of Pennsylvania Music Education graduate, and my primary focus was on the alto saxophone.
I have performed in various ensembles during my time at York, from Jazz to Wind Symphony and even the YCP / Community Orchestra. I performed in multiple Student Recitals while at York, as well as Junior and Senior Recitals to show case my growth and hard work while representing different areas throughout music history.
EXPERIENCE
My Student Teaching semester granted me the opportunity to work with elementary and secondary levels; starting beginners and working with students preparing for district band as well as college careers. It was nice to work with this range in age and skill level, whether they were aiming for career goals or simply playing for fun!
I now teach Elementary Vocal / General Music in Baltimore County Public Schools grades k-5.
In addition to my students through Musika, I have also worked with a company teaching piano lessons to children with Autism. These opportunities have given me the chance to work with a range of abilities and needs.
METHODS USED
I like to see what the student is currently working on, interested in, or what the school district encourages.
I am open to student / parent wishes; I understand that while some student goals are to find a career with music, there are many who are looking to grow within a hobby!
There are several method books I prefer for different reasons, so I will do my best after some discussion to find an appropriate fit for the student. If there is an adult learner looking to start, I'd do the same.
LESSON STYLE
Lessons will be tailored to each student's interests and goals. I will encourage strong foundation skills - such as tone, articulation, scales and basic theory, for a short example - for those aspects are very important.
Whether the student wishes to incorporate those skills a Broadway Musical Show Book or to prepare themselves for success in school band, district band, or school auditions I am happy to help students find the fun in music!

Mrs. Courtney M. is an excellent teacher. Presently, she is working with my grandson on the alto saxophone. After only one week and a day, he is performing much better. Mrs. Courtney M. is patient and very thorough. I highly recommend her!
