2009 - American Music Abroad Tour of Europe

Overview:
One of my favorite things to do is share my passion for music with others. I've found music to be the greatest inspiration in my life, and I love being able to introduce it to my students. I've been taking piano lessons ever since I can remember, becoming more and more serious as the years passed. In 2009, I joined a choir and a band through American Music Abroad, which took me on a 3 week tour of Europe. Through the long days of rehearsals, very long plane rides, and many shows, I found my passion for performing. This was the biggest transformation I've had as a musician, and I can't wait to play a part in this process for upcoming musicians!
EXPERIENCE
I was offered my first piano teaching job 5 years ago, and have continued to teach ever since. I've taught children as young as 4 years old and first-time adults as old as 60. The most rewarding experiences I've had as a teacher include watching shy, young students consistently evolve into mature young adults who leap at the chance to perform in recitals or take on new challenges in their musical careers. I always encourage a sound sense of self-discipline when I teach lessons. I've found that practicing the piano on a regular basis leads to a healthier work ethic that affects many other parts of a students' lifestyle. Lessons are also meant to be fun and inspiring, so the students have a deeper appreciation for music.
METHODS USED
I typically start beginning students with the Alfred music book series. Once they've made sufficient progress, we move into a specific genre or two that they are most interested in. We learn about the style, and why it sounds the way it does. After we have a solid repitoire, students will be ready to perform!
LESSON STYLE
My students thrive on goal setting. Coming into the lesson series with goals in mind is always imperative to a student's success. We will check in on these goals so we can track our progress and adjust accordingly. I strive to inspire each students individually, with an understanding that all students are different. Accomplishments, big or small, are steps closer to your overall goal and deserve to be praised!

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
