Overview:

I grew up singing in the children's choruses of The Metropolitan Opera and NYC Opera, dancing at The School of American Ballet in The Julliard School at Lincoln Center. I earned a college preparatory diploma from The Manhattan School of Music and went on to earn my BM and MM at Westminster Choir College (a world renowned choral conservatory in Princeton, NJ). After that I moved back to NYC where I maintained a wonderful studio of singers and some pianists for about five years. 6 years ago I moved out to New Haven where I have made my home. I continue to sing as an opera singer and singer/songwriter as well as teach.

EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching since getting my masters in 1999 - from Brooklyn and NYC to New Haven, CT, where I now teach vocal technique to all ages at the Educational Center for The Arts (Performing Arts High School) and at the Neighborhood Music School. I love to teach healthy singing to all ages, styles and levels, and lessons are alot of fun and immensely productive. My students succeed at their goals, whether it's to sing the leads in shows, get into college for voice, choir, opera or just fun at home!

METHODS USED

Children - solfeggio training, sight singing, kodaly hand signs for ear training, basic breathing and singing for kids. Teens - healthy singing, belting, classical, musical theater and pop, best way to project and resonate, audition prep Adults- any genre, healthy breathing, resonance, projection, articulation, audition prep, performance polish beginning and intermediate piano are also something that I add to my studio offerings. There are alot of different ways to sing, but really only one healthy way to sing and I like to make sure that my students have their voice at the healthiest, most resonant for the longest, with wonderful tools of technique that can be used forever.

LESSON STYLE

I fit my style to each student's individual demands. Whatever you are looking to achieve in your vocal training I will be there to meet. Lessons center on learning the biology of singing and wholistic understanding of how the body is the main instrument of the voice. Resonance, Articulation, Breathing, Posture and Articulation are just some aspects of your vocal training. Diction in five languages is also an option; healthy belting and even screaming for Metal is available too! Songwriting/composition and theory are also provided.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
