In addition to my many years as a professional trumpet player, I have had 25 years of teaching experience in the public schools of Abington, Mass. I am a very patient teacher, with an even disposition. I never lose my temper, and always do my best to encourage and support any progress made by my students. I concentrate on fostering correct breathing, embechoure, and musicianship, including reading music, and constructive listening to yourself.
I have had 25 years of experience teaching both privately and in the public schools of Abington, Mass. Many of my students have gone on to major in music in college. Many have become professional performers in jazz bands, concert bands, and symphony orchestras. I am a very positive thinking person, and always try to have this become an influence on the attitude of my students. I feel that learning to play a musical instrument is an integral part of developing self confidence, and getting along with others.
For beginners I teach the fundamentals such as found in the Rubank Elementary Method for Trumpet. I stress accuracy, correct breathing, and tone development. I try to stress the importance of daily practice. I encourage my students to enjoy making music, and never to be discouraged. Intermediate and advanced level students are taught at the correct individual level.
I encourage progress, and try to make the art of playing the trumpet an enjoyable experience, so they make progress at each lesson. I am very gentle with my critique of the progress they are making, and try to make there lessons both fun and educational.
