I have been instructing students from kindergarten to high-school all over the Chicago area for the past thirteen years. My highest accomplisment is having a high-school sophomore student playing second chair first violin in Chamber Orchestra and third chair first violin in Symphonic Orchestra at Maine Township, Park Ridge, Illinois. Other accomplishments are having students prepared for Granquist Memorial Music Competition, Geneva Illinois. Since 2015 I am a member of the Northwest Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
EXPERIENCE
My experience in teaching violin started in 2001 as an violin instructor at Music House Inc. Over the years I had been teaching groups as well as private sessions with students from public schools from all over the Chicago area. Learning music is a part of developing mental abilities and perception skills that help the student in areas of interests other then strictly musical: from appreciation of the world around them to skills about thinking of the self in relation to their surroundings. Practicing violin is like training for sports, requiring patience, discipline, and focus. These skills can only effectively be taught if the lessons are fun and informative at the same time. Each lesson is tailored for the necessity and the abilities of the student.
METHODS USED
Lessons are mainly based on the Suzuki method but they are enhanced through extra skill building exercises specifically prescribed for each student. The student does not need to develop exceptional musicianship, but they are required enough interest in developing musical skills. Musical education is as important as developing math or language skills in developing the mental abilities in children. For adults not only that strengthens the brain but, playing an instrument can actually improve on how one experiences life.
LESSON STYLE
Since everyone has a different way of seeing and understanding things, focusing on student's needs is my priority. Each lesson is tailored specifically for the student so that the information is well understood Beginner students are taught the principles behind the proper posture and correct handling of the instrument for better intonation. For intermediate students, basic musical theory lessons are added. Intermediate-advanced and advanced lessons contain listening skills as well musical thinking lectures.
