Drums have always been the biggest passion in my life. This incredible instrument holds endless musical and rhythmic possibilities which have always fascinated me. In 2011, I graduated with honors from the New Engalnd Conservatory with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance. I've had the honor of playing at some of New York's most well known venues as well as international festivals such as the Red Sea Jazz Festival in Eilat.
I've been teaching for the past 7 years. I started out giving private lessons in my studio in israel. Later on when I moved to Boston, I began giving private lessons at students homes ( students age ranged from 9 - 45). During this time, while attending the New England Conservatory, I also gave master classes at public schools as part of an outreach program I participated in.
After graduating NEC, I moved to New York. My passion for teaching comes from two main sources: First of all, there is nothing more satisfying than seeing a student progress, enjoy what he's doing and sound better every single lesson! My love for teaching also comes from the fact that I learn so much from this process! Every student gives me a new perspective on the drums and sets new challenges to tackle, which makes this such an invigorating experience!
Since every student has different goals I like to plan my lessons accordingly. I found it very useful to devide the lesson into 3 parts : Technique, reading and drumset studies. Whether the student is excited about rock, pop, jazz, hiphop or samba, this method creates a solid foundation for the drummer's ultimate goal - to groove on the drumset! To make the lesson even more fun and interactive, I love to work on playing along with recordings which give the student the feel of playing with his favorite band!
My main goal is to make each student as passionate about this incredible instrument called the drumset. And why should they be? This is one of the only instruments that uses all limbs simultaneously! Imagine how many rhythms, sounds and melodies can be created? Endless!
Drums are the heart of musical styles all around the world. whether it's jazz, samba, reggae or rock, drums are what makes everything sound so good! Since every student has different goals, time for practice and is on a different musical level, I make sure to set the lessons accordingly. Each at his/her own pace. My aim is for each student to leave the lesson with a feeling of excitement and eagerness to prepare for the next lesson. Once this is achieved, there is no limit to how far a student can go!
