ABOUT
Degrees / Training / Special Info:

I graduated from New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music and Mannes Conservatory with a focus in composition and conducting and a minor in trumpet and piano performance. In lieu of degrees and certificates I have extensive experience in the music business including albums for Sting, Rolando Villazón, and Placido Domingo as well as serving as music director and conductor for multiple operas, musicals, and dance pieces including Leonard Bernstein's Candide at UPENN and original productions at St. Anns Warehouse.

Overview:
As early as I can remember, music has been a passionate focal point in my life. I graduated from New School University for Jazz and Contemporary Music/Mannes Conservatory in 2006 and have made a career as a composer, arranger, producer, conductor, music educator, and pianist for over 15 years. I have had the opportunity to work with legendary artists including Sting, Placido Domingo, Orpheus Chamber Ensemble, Robert Sadin, Rolando Villazón and more. I have been blessed to have had incredibly generous teachers throughout my development as a professional musician and as a result I have gained a great passion for teaching. Teaching is something that is a core part of my life and the joy that I get from sharing music cannot be measured.
EXPERIENCE
I have worked as an arranger and composer on a variety of albums and concerts with Grammy Award winning artists such as Sting, Wynton Marsalis and Rolando Villazón among many others. I have served as a music director for a number of productions and international tours. Throughout it all I have maintained a consistent schedule of teaching including both privately and in the classroom. My strength is my wide variety of musical experiences which I bring into every lesson. I find the most important aspect of being an educator is to find a way to keep motivation high and encourage individual expression. If I can find a way to connect with a student to get them excited and find their own creativity then I feel I have accomplished something that will stay with a student in all aspects of their life. It is a joy and a pleasure to share music and I am always looking to share music with new students of all ages!
METHODS USED
The approach I take is individualized and utilizes multiple teaching methods. Every student brings unique qualities and different interests and it is my job to find a way to connect those qualities and interests to music. One thing I emphasize is continued learning. If we are working on fundamentals of piano technique I find a way to slowly introduce more concepts that will be developed later on in our lessons. Music should be fun, engaging, and allow the student to find a way to express themselves and I make it a point to emphasize weekly progress while maintaining a high level of excitement and interest regardless of proficiency.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
