My name is Daniel Erdahl or as kids often call me, Mr. Dan. I have been playing and studying music for nearly 30 years, and teaching for 20. I play and teach many, many styles. I started playing rock and blues as a kid, later becoming very focused on classical guitar. Over the years I have picked up several other instruments including ukulele, mandolin, banjo, drums, bass, vocals, and piano.
I decided in 2006 that I wanted to be a full-time professional music teacher, and developed a studio of 60 students a week. By 2008 I decided to open a larger music studio and hire teachers. Summer of 2008 I launched Broadway Music Academy in Orlando, FL, with 15 teachers instructing up to 300 students a week, and a retail store.
EXPERIENCE
As hard as I worked to become a musician, I have worked at least as hard to become a great music teacher. I love teaching music! It is something I cared about enough to open my own music school in Orlando, FL called Broadway Music Academy in 2006. I have taught for many established music schools throughout Florida, New York, and New Jersey. I bring this experience to every lesson I teach and continue to learn new and exciting ways to engage students.

METHODS USED
For every student, I initally assess why they are taking lessons and what their goals are. Together we create a plan to acheive those goals. For young beginners, I like the FJH guitar series. It was written by guitar educators. I also teach the student to play fun songs and tunes to supplmement the books. For teens and adults, the path depends on their goals, which aren't always in a book. Some have serious golas of becoming a classical or jazz musician, while others just want to strum and sing. Both are great, and I can help with that and everything in between!
LESSON STYLE
I have always had a great time playing music. Although I have worked very hard to become a musician, it never felt like work. I quickly learned as a teacher that if I could find a student's passion, the work of learning became almost effortless for the student as well.
I offer one to one private lessons and small group classes. I customize the lessons to the goals of each student. Whether it's for fun and leisure or a driven passion with serious goals, I can give you the tools to accomplish what you want! I love teaching people through the music that they love. So, whether that's Britney Spears, Metallica, or Bach, the concepts underlying music are basically the same. I will make sure you can play the music you love and hopefully help you explore new music as well.
