Bachelor Degree: University of the Pacific
Hello,
I am Daniel. I am a recent college grad and I am new to the area. I am teaching lessons mainly out of my apartment. However I can teach in your home if you are near me. I am only teaching beginners right now. I currently have a day job that doesn't have a set schedule. I am hoping to find students that are willing to have different times every week. Every Wednesday I can make the schedule for the next week. I do apologize if this is an in convenience. Anyway I do look forward to teaching and I look forward to hearing from you. I also have pets in my apartment, dogs. They will be caged and put into another room. Just warning for people with allergies or fear of dogs.
I am pretty new at teaching the violin. I have been playing for eleven years and for most of that time I have been taking private lessons. When teaching I can draw off my own experiences as a student and try to replicate those results. I do hope that you can bear with me as I am new. I am willing to learn and get better at teaching.
I teach mainly out of the string builder series. After the student shows some progress I will introduce some solo pieces and maybe some studies to practice. My method really revolves around the student since everyone advances at their own pace. Some other method books could be Kreutzer, Sevcik, and wohlfhart. Some early pieces I could introduce would be Arcangelos Corelli's violin sonatas.
My teaching style is mainly to be patient. It should be understood that every grows at their own pace. I think the very first lesson would require me to hear the student play and decide on a case by case basis on a plan that is best for them. As the student progresses with their learning, it is also important to observe the student and respond to their needs. I will for all students emphasize how grip. This is the hardest skill to learn but also the most important one. A wrong bow grip can take a long time to fix, so it's better to learn the right way to avoid bad habits.
