Overview:
I am an individual focused on helping people reach their goals. My biggest pleasure is seeing my students succeed in their musical jorney and have a great time in the process. I graduated from UNC-Charlotte in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. I recently moved to the north east part of the US. I considered myself a multicultural individual since I was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela when I was a kid. I am fluent in Spanish as well. Through my journey of teaching a wide variety of students, I've been able to help students with their challenges and overcome them.
EXPERIENCE
I've been teaching for over 10 years privately. Through my music career I've played in musicals, events, concerts and many more. My students' ages vary from 4 years old to others in their sixties. I have recorded records in professional studios, TV programs and have helped in many churches on improving their worship teams as well. I can not only teach a student the technique or musical aspects about an instrument but also help them and guide them in the logistics of performing, preparing and much more
METHODS USED
For beginning students, I normally start with Alfred's Drum Method. This book works on the fundamentals of reading snare drum music and basic technique. Once the students grasps the basics on reading and playing with a metronome then we tend to move to Tommy Igoe's Groove Essentials (while still working on the Alfred's Method). After the student has began to play with the audio tracks and have succesfully gone through a few lessons from Groove Essentials then we begin to work on some solo repertoire and personal favorites as well.
LESSON STYLE
As a teacher, my main goal is to see my students succeed and grow as a musician at their own pace. I focus on improvement and progress. I like to challenge my students with new material every week and new techniques. Even though every week we will be learning new things, I help my students grasp the concepts that I teach before we move to the next step. Nothing is more gratifying than seeing students experience the joy of making music and playing.
