My teaching experience goes back to graduation from college when I began private lessons 29 years ago. Since then I have been consistently teaching students in my studio and in home while recently adding on online lessons. I encourage consistent practice with practice sheets and lesson plans tailored for each individual student based on their level of skills and goals. I try to always make the lessons fun and enjoyable so as to encourage my students to progress as much as possible while still maintaining a pace that is comfortable for the student.

For beginning students I typically start with the basics such as hand placement and proper holding of the instrument. Next the focus is on learning basic reading of music and memorization of notes . After basic technique is mastered I then focus on the interests of the students and future lessons are tailored around the style and type of music; country, pop, classical etc.. that the student has the most interest in learning. I encourage performing in front of people: family, recitals, church etc.. in order to develop performance skills.
