Overview:
Hi my name is Daniel. I took a high interest in the guitar at age three and started taking professional lessons at the age of eight. I have been playing guitar for twenty years now. I am verse in many different styles of music such as Rock, Blues, Jazz and many others. I also have a high knowelege of theroy and compositition. I love to teach and have been an instructor since 2009. If you have any questions feel free to contact me. I like to teach out of books such as Hal Leonard guitar method for starting students.
EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience started back in 2009 as i was a freshman at McNally Smith College of Music. I really like to stress that practicing at least a half hour per day is key to help with finger strength and musle memory. I have been teaching from my home for seven years. The students that i have had really enjoyed my in depth knowlege of theiry the guitar and technique exercises. Every lesson i complement my students on various things they have done well on. I am very excited when teaching new students cause i get to spread my knowlege and help them become better musicians. Give it a try.
METHODS USED
For beginng students i like to start with Hal Lenords guitar 1 book and progress from there. I like to start kids with reading notation and little melodies cause it will help them in the long run. As they progress we will move to more advanced methods. I also use books when teaching such as guitar 1 to 3 it helps students learn how to correctly play rhythms as well as read music notation. I also feel it is a great thing to start ear training early as well as teach the names of the 12 tones on the instrument.
LESSON STYLE
I start out the students first lesson giving a brief intro on my background as a musician. I then talk to the student to see what their goals as an upcoming musician are. I focus my lessons on the students skill level, goals among others. I incorporate music theory, ear training, learning to improvise over changes. For beginners I start with basic Melodie’s line Star Wars. Clapping rhythms keeping time using a metronome. I start by teaching chords building blocks. Picking technique warm up exercises. There is more I could go into detail but will be glad to expand during lessons.
