Toured Professionally 2001
Worked in Los Angeles for over 10 years with touring professionals. 2009 - 2019
I have a proven track record of over 10 years of teaching experience with kids and teens at a Performance Rock School in Los Angeles, CA. which just happens to be the musical capital of the world. Not only have I graduated with an Associates Degree but I have toured professionally. I look forward to teaching and most of all having fun with my students. I have relocated to the midwest (which is where I am from) to continue teaching. What I am most proud of is working for a Non-Profit called the Jackson Symphony Orchestra where we enrich student lives through music.
I started teaching private lessons at a music school in Los Angeles since 2009. I have been consistently teaching students at this music school for over 10 years. I Encourage regular practice on a consistent schedule because this is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress more rapidly and gain a passion for music and guitar. Getting students playing quickly is important and what I do best. I don't want them to get bogged down with information overload. If a student isn't having fun in their lessons, then they aren't learning! My students are encouraged to record their own compositions on video so I can post them on social media, and so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn. I love teaching kids and teens and do well at helping them succeed.
For novice students who are children, I typically start with small bite size lessons that I have honed over my career in teaching. I include a backing track that will be engaging. Once the student has grasped the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce songs that are easy to play. Video performances are highly encouraged. For teens, I try to find out what bands the student is interested in, to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. I provide custom PDF's and Jam Tracks that will help you become more fluent as you progress.
Stylistically, I prefer one-on-one lessons with students because I tend to see better results than in group lessons. If a student doesn't understand something I have other ways of teaching. I am quite proud of my approach to teaching because there is always more than one way to deliver understanding of a particular subject or concept. Based on past performance students have appreciated my demeanor and countenance. My teaching style and lessons will keep them engaged throughout the week. I love giving students "Extras". I go the "Extra Mile" and provide students with a USB Drive where they have access to a wealth of lessons, PDF's, Backing Tracks & Video Lessons.
