Overview:
I have been playing clarinet for 12 years and very passionate and motivated by music. I love working and sharing my knowledge with students. I have graduated from Florida State University with a Master of Music degree in Clarinet Performance May 2020. I have performed in Mexico, Belgium, and around the United States. Not only solo literature, I enjoy playing chamber music. I am the founding member of the Shades Wind Quintet and we recently won the Art of Chamber Music Competition! Music doesn't run in my family and I am the first musician in my whole family so anyone can be a musician!
EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience started in my senior year of high school. I have taught a variety of ages and levels. From 5th grade to 12th grade I enjoyed all of them! I love to watch my students grow as they take to improve on technique, tone and etc. I give students homework to practice and encourage regular practicing. Even if it's 20 minutes a day, it's better than nothing. The more students practice, the more fun playing the clarinet is! Personally, if I think it "Oh I have to practice." I won't enjoy it. However, if I practice and learn how to play a piece I've always wanted, I feel satisfied. I bet students will feel the same way.
METHODS USED
I like to use the Rubank Elementary,Intermediate, and Advance method books depending on the skill level. I would say I focus on the fundamentals, embouchure, tone, air, technique, and etc. Having a strong basic will get the students to play anything they want in the long term. For example, having a strong correct embouchure is really important in playing the clarinet. It is more easier to play the clarinet and you will sound like a rock star!I try to make anything fun because music should be fun!
LESSON STYLE
The one thing I love teaching is watching my students grow. I believe music should be fun not boring having to practice 2 hours every day. I encourage students to to have fun during lessons and individual practice. I like to push my students to their limit. If the student is pushed to his/her limit, it will motivate them to work harder. Also, I like to ask what the student's goal is. Is it making into district band? Making into the All-State band? Everyone has different goals and I believe I can help them to achieve their goals.
