Overview:
I have been teaching music since graduating with a Bachelor's degree in music education in 1991. While I have had an active performing career, I have always had more of an interest in teaching. I have taught privately in my own music studio, taught elementary music and choir, high school music theory and guitar, published my own series of method books and given seminars to teachers on developing their own guitar programs as well as infusing technology into their lessons. I've spent my career looking for new and better ways to develop my students' abilities, and I find it just as fascinating and rewarding as I did in the beginning.
EXPERIENCE
I have been performing and teaching music privately in the Philadelphia area since I graduated with a Music education degree in 1991. I have performed on my instruments in a variety of venues (such as television, cruise ships, clubs, musical theater, and outdoor concerts) and styles. Over my career, I have successfully taught students at the elementary, middle and high school level, as well as adults. I've created the curriculum for guitar programs in various school districts and have given seminars to teachers in how to build their own programs. I've published my own series of method books as well as created an interactive method book available in Apple's iBooks store. Currently, I give students lessons in their home in Camden and Gloucester counties in New Jersey
METHODS USED
I have published my own series of method books to cover a wide range student needs. In addition, I often create materials depending on the student's interests. For more formal styles, I will use traditional methods created by Hal Leonard, Mel Bay, Frederick Noad etc.. My philosophy of teaching is that lesson materials must match the students interests and ability. Methods and materials must be carefully chosen or created to move them to the next level of playing, without frustration or boredom.
LESSON STYLE
My philosophy of teaching has always been to customize the student's lessons to match their interests, while ensuring that they receive a extensive foundation that will let them move in any direction they may choose. The methods and materials that I select for my students are always focused on enjoyment as well as efficacy. The goal is to get the student playing musically as soon as possible. While I stress the importance of practicing effectively, I understand that students move at their own pace and tailor the lessons to reflect this.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
