Overview:
I am a student of Life. I have been classically trained on Piano since I can remember; music is in my BLOOD! My father plays every instrument known to man (and I mean that), has written, composed, and performed in Carnegie Hall. I had the knowledge and know how of music first hand as a gift from one of the most talented musicians I have heard; with the pedigree to match because I am his son. I have also been in bands, singing groups, etc. since I was a small boy in church and outside of it. Always able to practice my craft on various instruments and stretch out my voice while making a JOYFUL NOISE. My dad is also a Pastor. We may differ in mechanization now that I am a man, but I think music is a gift and music is my LIFE. I now record music, create, compose, and just started a band of my own. We don't do gospel, but I still like it.lol
EXPERIENCE
I teach always. I teach by example, and I teach formally. My formal teaching background begins in church when I was 19. I did my mom a favor and started teaching/leading the children's choir. It was fun, I enjoyed it thoroughly, and our 2 performances went GREAT! It gave me a taste for it so I became an actual teacher in the SMCISD school district as a Focus Teacher (Special Education). Those were some of the most fruitful years of my LIFE! I learned so much about myself, so much about children, humility, and TEACHING. You learn so much from children because of their nature. I let them show the way...every student teaches the teacher, how to teach them and how they want to be taught. It is our job to listen and learn as well.
METHODS USED
I begin with a meeting. A meeting about you...How you are doing this fine day. We will make GREAT MUSIC together and learn more about music and the world's vibrations together. I want you to tell me what it is you want me to teach you, and in the process I will learn how you learn. You teach me while I teach you; then the music will flow from ALL DIRECTIONS! =) My philosophy is a simple one. "If you put the work in you will improve." We will go at the pace that you desire and what you show me you are prepared for.
LESSON STYLE
I am a passionate musician, and in my opinion you cannot make music without PASSION! We will find and explore your passion so you music can be unbridled and free of constraints. I believe in a balanced approach to musicianship, production, singing, etc. I will teach you the classic way, how to read notes and things of that nature; but I will also teach improv and pre-thinking so you can make your own unique sound. A MOST BEAUTIFUL SOUND I LONG TO HERE...FREEDOM IN VIBRATION! Feel free to bring in any music you want to learn...I want you to enjoy our experience as much as I DO!
