Overview:
I am a young, passionate and committed piano performer and instructor. After earning my High School Diploma in Piano Performance with the highest score (100/100) and honors, I decided to move to the U.S. (which I have the citizenship from), to continue my performing and academic career. I am currently studying at Mannes School of Music under the tutelage of Jerome Rose, world-class pianist and instructor. I believe that a carreer in music is one of the most extraordinary things that someone can experience, living and feeling the beauty of this art every single day.
EXPERIENCE
My teaching and tutoring experience, both in piano and music theory, dates back to my high school days, as I was chosen to be the substitute of my own piano teacher, in occasions she could not give lessons. Since my last year of High School, I have had private students who exclusively studied with me, and whom I had to work with on auditions repertoire for entering music schools and conservatory. I believe that a piano lesson, and a music lesson in general, should always be educational, and the student should always feel that he or she learned something during the time spent with the teacher; however I also believe and truly understand that each student has a different approach to learning and acquiring new information, and that the student should always have fun and enjoy their time spent with me.
METHODS USED
For beginning students who are children, I always start with fundamentals in music thoery, then are then applied to the first exercises (Beyer and Czerny) and beginner-level pieces. Once the young student is ready, I will discuss about his or her personal taste, and find solo pieces that are suitable for the level acquired, but also enjoyable. For adult students, I usually discuss about the level and goal they would like to reach. I usually discuss, with an adult student, the repertoire that he or she would like to focus on, but I always reccommend working on exercises.
LESSON STYLE
I believe that setting goals and "deadlines" with the student, for example regarding the learning process of a piece, helps to improve better and faster, but also limits the frustration that an unsuccess can cause. I am always focused on how to make my lessons enjoyable, fun and useful. I am always aware of posture and relaxion of the student; two main factors that can help the student to be active and tireless throughout the course of the lesson, and during their own practice time. Music is a great passion for me, and my goal is to transmit my love for music to my students, so that they can really enjoy their lessons and not feel forced or constrained to be there, play and practice.
