Overview:
I have been an active musician throughout my life. Music is both my passion and my job; I am eager to share music with other people! Whether singing, composing, or playing piano or organ, music opens artistic windows in a person's life. I hope you will consider exploring the world of music with me! My Bachelors focused on Organ and Voice, my Masters Degree focused on Composition and Church Music and my Doctoral program was in Conducting and Music History. I am the Artistic Director of a Handel festival and have played and conducted here in the US and in England. I hope to share the joy of music with you!
EXPERIENCE
When we teach music, we share the joy of the songs of life with each other! When we learn music together as teacher and learner, we unlock the treasures of sound and allow songs to break forth. I have a great passion for teaching music! Making music makes the world a better place. Music is, however, demanding and requires regular practice in order to improve. Improving a musical project brings us deeper into the actual piece of music we would study together. I hope you will join with me and study music together!
METHODS USED
Each of us as individuals are different; therefore each of us as musicians are also different. Therefore, I enjoy crafting a learning environment with each new student that meets them where they are and challenges them to grow in all areas of music. We need to develop technique, deepen expressive gestures, focus on phrasing and attention to musical detail and, of course, have fun! Regular practice and regular lessons unlock almost limitless possibilities inside each given piece of music. Join me for a lesson plan made just for you!
LESSON STYLE
Sometimes you have to put in some effort to master a piece of music, and though it might be seen as work, the final result is usually very satisfying and fun! Each of us learns at their own pace and I am here beside you to help you to be the best musician you can be. It is always wonderful to me to watch a musician grow and develop. I will stand by you and help you as you develop your musical skills! Music is a language all its own and together we will explore the many areas of musicianship in a nurturing and positive environment!
