I'm a passionate and motivated instructor and performer who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. I have been playing in jazz, pop, funk, and reggae bands since the 90s. I enjoying sharing my own style of playing and teaching the basics as well as helping others achieve their specific goals. I am patient and easy to work with. I understand the key to success is communication and honesty. I look forward to hearing from you. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
My teaching experience dates back to my high school days, as I began teaching to younger student, and have been consistently teaching students in since then. I have been in and around music theory, performance and composition within the past 20 years and feel that my experiences in these areas well help not only to motivate others but to instill a passion to excel on their instrument. I have had the pleasure of playing with many different bands over these years and have had a lot of fun. I want to pass this enjoyment and fun along to others.
I am flexible in any teaching style the student will excel in. I will tailor the lesson to meet the students needs. I feel the best and most complete method is the Arbans Complete Conservatory Method for Trumpet. Arbans Complete Conservatory Method for Trumpet has long set the standard for trumpet pedagogy books. Within its pages, students can find detailed exercises and instruction geared to make the aspiring trumpeter into a first class musician. If you are serious about playing the trumpet, this book must be in your collection
I love teaching music. I love it for the way a high school student and a middle-aged stockbroker light up the same way as they learn how to play their favorite song for the first time, or hear Miles Davis playing the blues, and realize they have music in them too. I love it for the lessons it has given both me and my students about life – its purpose, discipline, and its rules. It’s been said many times that teaching is either a calling, or something you do to make a living when you can’t succeed professionally. In my experience, teaching is a deeper experience and one I wouldn't trade for anything.
