I have been singing and writing music since I was 12 years old , so of the greatest entertainers inspired me Michael Jackson, the Jackson 5, all the Motown greats, the temptations, Prince when I saw them perform I know music was going to be a part of my life. I started performing at 14 traveling and studio recording, I had the opportunity to meet very successful singers and musicians that taught me more about my craft. I am very passionate about music and teaching others how to use their talents. For me music is a form of therapy and brings happiness to everyone.
My teaching experience started after college I began teaching with public schools in 2006 and teaching independently in 2009 all ages. I love all genres of music and I motivate and encourage my students to explore music in that way. I love to have fun with teaching and competition so I encourage students who are interested in a performing career to perform live in talents shows , community events, family parties and gatherings so that they are able to have the experience amongst there peers and family.
I encourage my students to practice daily and to take care of their instruments. I tell my students that I believe that if you really want to be a singer, musician, and entertainer if you never give up eventually you will achieve your goals. Success is measured by your own happiness, short term and long term goals. Everyone goals are different so helping my students begin the journey to there goals is very fulfilling even if it is not to perform and only to learn a new craft or experience a new hobby.
I feel that progress and growth is important but my philosophy is to have fun with learning because when you enjoy what you do success follows. I am consistently inspiring and motivating my students to achieve a little bit more each time. I make sure that I listen to each of my students needs and what they are looking for from there lessons. I ask them why music and what is motivating them to move forward. Whe my students are involved in different shows outside of there lessons I encourage them to record them and play it back for themselves so that they are able to critique their own performance.
