Bachelor Degree: CSUF
Outstanding Musician, VHS
Best Jazz Musician, Reno Jazz Festival
I attended CSUF for jazz guitar studies. I am very fluent in big band, swing, rock, funk, combo jazz and many other styles. I also have a lot of experience with being in a pit orchestra, playing for musicals. I have a great working knowledge of what it's like to be in a rock band and how to configure pedalboards. I teach tablature of reading music, both of which have their advantages. I also have experience with Digital Audio workstations or as they're commonly referred to, DAWS. I can teach at my studio or travel.
I’ve played wi the Ron Eschete, Barbra Morrison, Drew Michael, Xhristopher just to name a few. I've played many musicals over the years including, Pippin, Bonnie and Clyde, Grease, Cabaret, School House Rock, Violet, Next to Normal and many others. I've been in jazz combos, fusion groups, big bands, rock bands, R&B groups and have also played worship music on Sundays for churches. I also have experience with abstract and avant garde music. I'd be happy to share my knowledge and experience with my students.
Beginning students I will start with Hal Leonard’s beginning guitar and school of rock tablature so they’re learning both tab and notes. More advanced students will learn jazz out of multiple different books. We can start the lessons usually with warmups on scales, arpeggios and chords then for the rest of the lesson, focus on material. Developing your ear, or what is usually known as musicianship, is also something that I offer in addition to music theory. Two things that are critical for a well-rounded musician.
I will go at the students learning pace but also push them to accel. I teach at your pace and will make sure you get results. We can learn out of a book of your choosing but if you're unsure of what you need to learn I will gladly take the reigns and start you out with what I think would benefit you. I have a TON of books to learn from which range from rock books, jazz, sight reading, tablature and also some holiday stuff if that's something you'd want to do. We can also learn songs from your favorite bands.
