Overview:
As a music teacher, I am enthusiastic and committed to excellence. My strong passion for music drives me to share it with my students and my audiences. In 2015, I graduated from Oberlin Conservatory with a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance. In my music career so far, I have had numerous opportunities to perform at prestigious venues, such as Carnegie Hall as part of the Oberlin Orchestra, and Le Poisson Rouge in New York. In addition to solo preparation, I also have a particularly strong orchestral training. I have won leadership positions such as concertmaster and principle second at Festival Hill Orchestra at Round Top, the Eastern Music Festival orchestras, and many others. Currently, I'm pursuing a Masters of Music degree in Violin Performance at The Boston Conservatory, with a strong emphasis on string pedagogy and orchestral training.
EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience goes back as far as high school when I started volunteering to teach violin lessons to younger students. In my college years, I taught as part of Oberlin Conservatory's secondary lessons program in addition to teaching members of the Oberlin community of different ages and levels. Currently, I maintain private studios in multiple locations as an addition to my Musika students. My teaching experience as a violin instructor and educator has given me the chance to grow through my students' achievements and has transformed my life in a positive way. Because of this, I am always looking forward to helping new students.
METHODS USED
When I teach the instrument, I like to help the student to not only develop and improve their technique, but also find a voice of their own. I believe that every individual is special, and as a teacher I am most satisfied when I can help my students express themselves through music. Coming from a strong musical background, I can provide solid foundations for beginners as well as great technical and musical challenges for intermediate and advanced students. In addition to training in solo violin, I can provide solid orchestral and chamber music preparation as well as fundamentals of music theory and ear training. Some of my methods include: - approaching the violin efficiently -practice techniques for better learning -building technical confidence -using violin technique for self-expression
LESSON STYLE
For any of my students, I strive to nurture and develop their love for music. At the same time, I encourage my students to reach their potential while maintaining good habits and avoiding undue pressure. These goals require patience and balance that will differ from student to student. I enjoy working with students of all levels, and I look forward to working with you!
