Im a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. graduated from Peabody Conservatory with a degree in vocal performance. Performing all over the world has been one of the greater experiences of my life as a musician, and I've had the opportunity to meet many differences kinds of people and learn many different kinds of teaching styles. Vocal students all learn differently and it’s my job to determine how best to initiate the learning process.
I have been teaching since I graduated Peabody Conservatory in 2006. Upon graduating I traveled throughout Europe and the USA teaching and performing for both churches and productions both classical and musical theatre. Some of these productions include FAME, Phantom of the Opera, Children of Eden, La Boheme, The Magic Flute and others. I am excited to learn more about the roles that you are preparing for and how I can help you to deliver an impactful performance to your audience!! Looking forward!
I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. I also incorporate various learning by doing exercises, a lot of breath work and visualization, vocal drills are also key.
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Let’s start with a goal setting session!
